The University will not operate fully on a 5DW basis. Because of the nature of work, certain Departments/Units (“D/Us”) will continue to have their operation beyond 5DW, so that facilities, amenities and services currently available on Saturday afternoons and Sundays (e.g. security and transport, maintenance service, hostels, library, halls and museum) will be maintained.

Not all staff members will therefore be able to work according to the 5DW operation. Teaching and teaching-support staff members are expected to attend to their teaching and other duties as and when required. Some non-teaching staff members will, owing to their job nature and service operation of their affiliated D/Us, remain on the existing work pattern beyond 5DW.
