International Workshop on Nonlinear Waves

June 1, 2004 - June 4, 2004

Venue: LT5, Lady Shaw Building, CUHK

The Institute of Mathematical Sciences

The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Purpose:

This workshop was originally scheduled to take place in July of 2003 to celebrate the 60th birthday of Professor George Papanicolaou. It has been postponed due to the SARS outbreak in Hong Kong. Over the past 30 years, George Papanicolaou had made significant contributions in many fields of applied mathematics including waves in random media, nonlinear waves, financial mathematics andmore recently imaging and time reversal. We are organizing this international workshop to honor George Papanicolaou's research achievements. The purpose of the workshop is also to bring together some leading experts in various fields of applied mathematics to review recent developments, to explore new directions in the applied mathematics research. This workshop will also promote research interests in applied mathematics in Hong Kong.
