S.P. Chen is a professor of mathematics in the Department of Applied
Mathematics, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. His current research
interests are in control theory for distributed parameter and stochastic
systems and relevant applications. He is an author or co-author of 40 research
papers and 2 books. He has organized or co-organized 8 conferences or
symposiums in the related fields. He is chair of the Department of Applied
Mathematics and executive deputy director of the Center for Mathematical
Sciences in Zhejiang University. He is a standing council member of Chinese
SIAM. He also serves on the editorial board of 3 Chinese mathematical journals
and several national mathematics academic/educational committees.
